During his lifetime, he released only three albums: Five Leaves Left (1969), Bryter Layter (1971), and Pink Moon (1972). His open tunings, understated strings, and twilight-suspended lyrics influenced artists such as Elliott Smith , Bon Iver , Beck , and Norah Jones .
